JC Barre Teacher Spotlight: Ruth Kavanagh
We are starting our Teacher Spotlight series with the lovely Ruth Kavanagh! If you have visited the studio on either a Monday or Wednesday you probably had the privilege of taking a class led by her. Her high energy, charismatic personality was sure to light up the place! Here's you chance to learn more about her!
How long have you been teaching Barre?
Ruth: I was certified and starting teaching barre in 2013 after having fallen in love with barre classes when I started taking them a couple of years beforehand.
Why do you love teaching the ladies at JC Barre?
Ruth: I love the community spirit at JC Barre and have such fun teaching there. There is a great camaraderie between everyone there and they have fun and work hard at the same time.
Do you have another career focus other than fitness?
Ruth: I'm an actress and voice over artist. Among other projects, I work with a theatre company in NY called Fallen Angel (both on the performance and production sides), which focuses on work by and about Irish and British women.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Ruth: I love going to the theater, going out to eat and going to dance salsa. I used to dance salsa 3-4 nights a week but that has become somewhat less frequent in the last few years. I'll blame early morning barre classes :-)
Ruth teaches every Monday mornings and Wednesday evenings and a few Sunday mornings out of the month. Be sure to attend one of her classes if you haven't already done so!
Ruth is one of roles on stage!
